Doctor Romana Iris and Panda

An illustration depicting the Fourth Doctor and Romana II somewhere between the television stories Destiny of the Daleks and City of Death meeting up with Timelady Iris Wildthyme and her traveling companion Panda. One of my favorite Doctor Who characters created by Paul Magrs for BBC Books series of ongoing Doctor Who novels. And currently her own ongoing series of short stories and audio plays.

Much like a previous Fourth Doctor illustration, I went with an amalgamation of a costume the Fourth Doctor was wearing at that time with the wide lapeled question-marked shirt he was wearing in his last season of the Doctor.

After doing a cover for one of the Iris Wildthyme volumes, I have also been toying around with different costume designs for Iris as well. I decided to illustrate her in a coat somewhat similar to the one Tom Baker's Doctor wore his last year as the Fourth Doctor. I wanted to give the impression that perhaps Iris borrowed it from the TARDIS wardrobe visiting one of the Doctor's past or future incarnations.

With every intention of returning it... at some point

I wanted Romana to be somewhat "put off" by Iris's forwardness towards the Doctor. Which naturally Iris doesn't care what Miss Frostybritchestimelady thinks.
